Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing organisation in the Plymouth area for a Group Leader of Quality Assurance. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QA professional to step into a key leadership role within a forward-thinking, and high-performing business.

The Opportunity:This position is ideal for a motivated and experienced individual looking to lead a Quality Assurance team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You'll play a critical role in ensuring QA processes are executed effectively and continuously improved to support the business's high standards.

Key Responsibilities:Safety First

  • Maintain a safe, organised work environment
  • Lead risk assessments and ensure safety audits are effectively carried out
  • Promote adherence to PPE protocols and manage thorough accident investigations

Quality Focused

  • Oversee internal and outgoing audits (including process audits and OBA's)
  • Ensure calibration of all measurement equipment
  • Lead the quality response to new product introductions
  • Chair quality forums and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Team Leadership

  • Conduct regular appraisals and development plans
  • Mentor and develop a strong second-in-command
  • Address performance issues constructively
  • Ensure appropriate management of attendance and team performance

What We're Looking For:Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience in a Quality environment
  • Understanding of gauge R&R, capability studies (CP, CPK), and inspection techniques
  • Certified internal auditor with strong knowledge of engineering drawings and weld standards
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Confident in engaging with senior stakeholders and teams alike

Desirable

  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • CMI Level 3 in Management
  • Experience in structured NPI processes
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing setting
