As a Project Manager you will be responsible for managing a growing portfolio on a busy framework agreement. This role offers a diverse workload in an interesting environment with opportunities for training.

Due to the nature of the role and projects, my client is seeking candidates who have previous/current ecperience of working at HMNB Devonport.



Purpose of Job


You will be resonsible for coordinating and supervising projects and the work of production staff. You will ensure that all work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while managing equipment and materials required. This involves implementing all Company and legal regulations, completing necessary documentation, and recording daily work on site.



Principle Duties

  1. Manage marine infrastructure projects, including supervising and monitoring the work undertaken by production staff and subcontractors. Ensure the required quality and safety standards are met, while maintaining good timekeeping and conduct of staff.
  2. Prepare project plans and monitor performance, including worked hours, materials, consumables, equipment, and subcontracted work. Complete projects on time and on budget.
  3. Conduct regular progress reporting on project completion to senior management, especially if there are problems that may impact cost or completion.
  4. Monitor and carry out the purchasing of consumables, plant, and materials to support projects. Ensure continuity of delivery without associated delay.
  5. Ensure all aims and objectives of the project are met. Keep regular communication with the customer to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
  6. Maintain standards of good housekeeping and organization in all work areas at on-site locations.
  7. Travel to sites/customers to survey work and assist in the quotation process for required projects.
  8. Ensure projects have the relevant SHE and quality documentation prepared and implemented before work starts. Ensure safe working procedures are applied to all projects.
  9. Complete any required lifetime quality records (LTQR's), retain them, and collate them to form quality packs upon project completion.
  10. Undertake other duties commensurate with the post holder's level to achieve the objectives of the Company.


Qualifications for the position of Project Manager

  • Good communication skills, both spoken and written English. Must be able to communicate sensitively, politely, and clearly with staff, managers, and suppliers.
  • Minimum of five years of project experience in the marine or civil engineering industry.
  • Flexibility to travel as required for the overall gain of the business.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good demonstrable organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematic parts manuals, diagrams, and associated technical data & specifications.
  • Able to work as part of a team and motivate staff.
  • Ability to gain BPSS and SC clearance, confined space training,
  • Current SMSTS would be preferable

You must implement safe systems of work according to internal procedures and ensure your own safety, as well as that of employees, visitors, and the general public when on client's property. Adherence to all criteria contained within our client's Integrated Management System, their Staff Handbook, the Safety, Health and Environment Handbook, and the Drivers Handbook is required. Additionally, you must promptly report and record any accidents, incidents, and near misses involving yourself or staff under your control.
