Environmental Waste Assessor

Job Purpose:

  • To ensure that all incoming & outgoing waste is correctly classified and that an auditable trail of records is maintained according to site procedures.
  • To ensure legal compliance for the site documents.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow site pre-acceptance, acceptance, sampling & compatibility procedures according to WM3 to technically assess waste enquiries. Ensure sufficient information is supplied, including samples where required.
  • Ensure compliance of all waste quotes with site permits & waste management licences.
  • To liaise closely with the Sales and Operational functions to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
  • Ensure pre-acceptance information is complete and available at time of acceptance.
  • To assist with the maintenance and control of the site management systems, to include document control, preparation of data and attending reviews where necessary.
  • Check loads notes and ensure offsite wastes have been priced accordingly. Inform sales of non-conformances and communicate reasons for surcharges or rejections. Pragmatic in providing advice aimed to resolve non-compliances identified.
  • Efficiency in dealing with SEPA and attending meetings.
  • Efficiency in dealing with Revenue Scotland and attending meetings.
  • Recording of samples correctly logging data, maintaining and updating the management systems.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in chemistry or validated analytical experience.
  • Knowledge of waste related legislation.
  • Understand how to classify waste for disposal.
  • Excellent organiser & communicator.
