Welsh-Medium Teacher of Expressive Arts Required for September 2024

Supply Desk are currently working on behalf of a rapidly growing and supportive Welsh medium school who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher of Expressive Arts (art specialism) to join their team from September 2024.

The school is committed to innovation for the future, and supports an ethos of one team, one family as they implement a curriculum for Wales, grow as a 3-19 school and innovate with new systems to support self-evaluation and improvement, the development of learners' skills and standards.

They work closely with other Welsh secondary schools in developing their new curriculum and are fully committed to ensuring the right to professional learning, workforce development and innovation.

The school houses an enthusiastic team of staff, who are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of learning and teaching and learner achievement. They are looking for a dedicated and energetic teacher in order to continue with our developments within the Welsh language department and across the field of language and communication learning and experience by teaching across the secondary age range, including delivering suitable courses (according to the individual's expertise) in KS4 and KS5.

As we grow as an all age school we welcome innovative developments to our whole school structures as we look towards the future. As a result, a range of opportunities are offered to develop a career and take a leading role in the development of the whole school as we continue on our development journey.

Main responsibilities:

• Collaborate, develop and implement whole school strategies for Art

• Monitor, track and evaluate the progress of learners within the department across the different key stages and plan relevant interventions to respond to any concerns

• Research and collaborate in developing a new Curriculum for Wales curriculum and any further changes to Key Stages 4&5

• Contribute to skills development work across the department, eg digital competence, problem solving, literacy, numeracy and creativity

• Commit to developing extracurricular opportunities for our learners

 

 

A person applying for the position is expected to meet the requirements below:

  • Have an understanding of tracking learners' progress
  • Understanding of excellent standards within the subject and beyond
  • Have very good communication skills in Welsh and English
  • Being able to work as part of a team
  • Have very good ICT skills
  • Satisfactory registration with EWC
  • An enhanced DBS certificate (we can assist with completion of this if not already in receipt)
