GSL Education are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an Outdoor Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a forward-thinking and supportive educational setting in Poole. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about outdoor learning and committed to supporting young people.
About the School:
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of outdoor and vocational learning activities in a variety of settings including gardens, farms, and workshops.
- Assist students in developing practical life and work skills through hands-on experiences.
- Monitor and record student progress, adapting support strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure a cohesive learning environment.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere for all students.
- Drive students to off-site activities or placements when required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with learning difficulties or in outdoor education is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting diverse learning needs.
- A valid UK driving license and willingness to drive as part of the role.
- Relevant qualifications or training in outdoor education are advantageous but not essential.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide an up-to-date CV with two references from the last two years.
- Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
