CNC Turner – Setter, Operator

Permanent – Full time – (Double days shift)

Location: Poole

Salary: £39,000 inc shift allowance

We are seeking a skilled Setter Operator with expertise in CNC machining processes to join our team. The ideal candidate will apply a logical approach to produce components to drawing tolerances within the quality specification. While sliding head experience is preferable, it is not a requirement for this role.

Day to Day of the role:

• Advise on the best production methods, tooling, holding devices, and provide minor editing of CNC programs in collaboration with Production Engineering.
• Ensure all risk and COSHH assessments are up to date and that employees understand
• relevant responsibilities.
• Set up CNC machines according to provided setup sheets, make necessary amendments, and communicate changes to Production Engineering.
• Prove and optimise manufacturing methods for production efficiency.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Select appropriate tooling and holding devices for manufacturing.
• Implement best practice setups and liaise with operators for efficient production.
• Coordinate with Production Engineers for specialised tooling requirements.
• Manufacture components to correct drawing specifications and conduct first-off inspections.
• Record set and run times, complete OEE data sheets, and maintain production targets.
• Complete necessary quality documentation and uphold Lean principles.
• Ensure tooling and gauging are maintained to high standards.
• Communicate any issues or manufacturing improvements identified.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Significant experience in setting and running CNC turning or mill/turn machines.
• Apprenticeship trained in a relevant field.
• Familiarity with Fanuc programming.
• Positive attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Committed to meeting deadlines and achieving satisfactory job conclusions.
• High level of attention to detail and PC literacy.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in running and setting sliding head CNC machines.
• Advanced Fanuc programming experience.
