The Role

As Quality Assurance Manager you'll be responsible for ensuring that we satisfy the requirements of our customers with the correct quality product, on time and in full, every time.

You'll ensure that, through effective procedures, monitoring and coaching that the site and staff comply with our legal food safety and quality obligations as defined by the BRC Global standard.

You'll be an integral member of the Site Management Team and will report into the site Technical Manager. You'll oversee the growth and development of the team as well as the development of a strong Quality Assurance culture.


Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

  • Manage, maintain, and implement the food safety management system in line with the requirements of BRC.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement through effective data collection monitoring trending and reporting of site quality KPI’s.
  • Engage with personnel of all levels on site to measure compliance to standards, evaluate methods and share best practice.
  • Monitoring all Retailer Codes of Practice requirements and effectively communicating these throughout the business.
  • Interpretation of these requirements into the MBL Food Safety and Quality Standard
  • Support site in preparation and during external site audits/visits, as required.
  • Analysis of customer and internal requirements and collate suitable documentation to demonstrate compliance.
  • Review and update policies and procedures in a timely manner
  • Engaging stakeholders across multiple disciplines to collaboratively engage and clarify solutions, then support implementation as required.
  • Provide clear guidance to all sites on the detail of the Food Safety and Quality Standard
  • Coaching site teams to improve levels of compliance on factory floor.
  • Facilitating and supporting/driving root cause analysis to deliver long-term sustainable solutions to issues as they arise.
  • Auditing the site to ensure compliance to the above.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and Distiller, ensuring QMS requirements are met.
  • Support issues and incidents across the business and providing knowledge, experience, and practical assistance as required.
  • To provide clear written reports and KPI monitoring, to all relevant stakeholders within the business.
  • Assist with other functions within the business should an urgent need arise.
  • Ensure that satisfactory hygiene standards are always maintained in the main operational areas and that the company hygiene rules are always adhered to
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant operational meetings, e.g. SMT meetings, daily production meetings.
  • Focuses on customer needs and satisfaction


The Person

  • Level 4 Food Hygiene
  • Level 4 HACCP
  • Higher Education Qualification in Food Science/Technology
  • Experience in Technical Roles within the food industry
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Tools
  • Uses all information systems available to them with expertise, analyses, and extracts information to improve effectiveness and efficiency of work responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates competent use of new technology and business reporting and information systems.
  • Qualified in Auditing
  • Experience of auditing and managing BRC based quality systems
