Infinity Employmentare looking for anAccountantto Assist our client based inPortsmouthwith the management of the UK Finance team to ensure the accuracy of the day-to-day bookkeeping. Monday - Friday 37 hrs per week.

Job Purpose

It is critical for our client to have accurate, timely, relevant and appropriate financial and non-financial information to the business. This enables our client to be run commercially. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager with reporting to Directors and, subsequently, the Group and supporting the individual UK business.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the daily running of sub-ledgers, ensuring comprehensive and accurate posting of the financial systems.
  • Prepare the management accounts, including a profit and loss account, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, considering the analysis of actual performance against the budget.
  • Assist with creating monthly performance reports and analysing customer and revenue stream profits.
  • Responsible for the monthly accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintain the reconciliation of the balance sheets, providing evidence monthly.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a working cashflow forecast.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset registers monthly.
  • Support the Finance team with the annual budget and forecast process.
  • Complete the credit control process, ensuring prompt collection and accurate allocation to customers' accounts within the accounting system, with a weekly update meeting with heads of department.
  • Assist with the creditor's payments and bookkeeping accordingly.
  • Manage the bank reconciliation process.
  • Support with the completion of the quarterly VAT returns.
  • Play an active role in the annual Audit, supporting the Finance Management team and external auditors whilst facilitating a full commercial audit.
  • Assist the senior management team with ad hoc requests.
  • Ensure procedures are adhered to within the Finance team. Actively recommend improvements to support the smooth running of the Finance team
  • Undertaking any other tasks relating to the role, required by the business, as directed by the Finance Manager.

Competencies/Personal Requirements/Experience

  • Accounting technician.
  • Experienced in a Finance environment.
  • Have a track record and the capability to produce a trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet.
  • An effective team player.
  • Knowledge of management accounting in a commercial environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Analytical, numerate and confident with financial accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software with extensive experience in Excel.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to cover the work of the Finance Team in periods of absence and high workload.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between UK locations.
  • Good interpersonal and people skills.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills, with the ability to organise own work and work under pressure to meet deadlines without supervision.
