Bricklayer Multi

Our client based in Hampshire is currently looking for a Bricklayer/multi to carryout works/re-active maintenance within social housing /new builds across Hampshire. You may also be asked to travel between Portsmouth and Basingstoke from time to time, fuel will be supplemented if working out of area. The work will also include other multi tasks listed below under the Bricklaying sector, such as Ground working skills.

You must be experienced, have own tools and van.  Ensure the highest standards of health & safety are carried out at all times, have the correct PPE along with being a good people’s person, working within a team and operate on your own. You must also hold a valid DBS.

This role will run until 30th June.

Your ability as a Bricklayer / Multi 

Brickwork Activities

• Measuring work area, inspecting and tell tales
• Mixing mortar and Repointing
• Cavity clearing i.e. removing odd few bricks in small area
• Making good of cavity area
• Relaying a few bricks or cappings on a wall
• Taking down a wall
• Setting out the first rows of bricks (courses)
• Checking that courses are straight using plumb lines
• Taking down a chimney including cover roofing back in again
• Changing a lintel including acroprops and strong boys
• Installing or repairing canopy

Groundwork Activities

• Rotary lines
• Handrails and signs
• Erecting sheds
• Removing coal bunker
• Preparation for gravel, paving & slabbing- digging out, sub-base & lowering ground levels
• Paving & slabbing - block paving and slabs
• Preparation for concreting- digging out, sub-base and reinforcing, including internal works
• Concreting - ramps, paths, drives & formwork
• Key Klamp
• Soak aways & french drains
• Shallow drainage
• Footings

Fencing Activities

• Fence Panel - Erection & repairs
• Post and wire/chainlink fencing - Erection & repairs
• Post & rail, hit & miss, overlap,

Requirements

• Level 2 NVQ / Time Served
• Own Van and Power Tools (essential)
• Smart Phone with Camera (essential)
• Valid DBS or able to obtain one (essential)
• Happy to work/travel between Portsmouth and Basingstoke (essential)
• Asbestos Awareness Training (preferred)
• Working at Heights Training (preferred)
• Manual Handling (preferred)
• Good IT Skills
• Excellent communication skills with staff/clients/tenants
