Our client who provides high quality public water supplies to a domestic population are looking for a Production Technician who can ensure water treatment works are maintained, enabling the effective production of safe drinking water.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with planned maintenance schedules.
- Maintain, diagnose, repair, modify, configure, commission low voltage switchgear, motor drives, valves, gas dosing equipment, pneumatic plant, pumps and motors.
- Visiting water treatment works, pumping stations, reservoirs, monitoring asset performance and operability of the water treatment works across sites and to carry out essential duties.
- Collect asset performance data, recording routine activities and work completed.
- Demonstrate an ability to read, understand and work from electrical drawings.
- Respond to breakdowns on a range of M&E plant, assess problems, decide on action, acquire spares and carry out repairs as necessary.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained and calibrated to the manufacturers specifications and is auditable.
- Supervise team members and assist with their development and learning.
Qualifications/knowledge required
- ONC / Level 3 In electrical or mechanical engineering and a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant field within water utility or similar industry or equivalent experience as specified below.Â
- Relevant experience in a process and industrial environment.Â
- Experience implementing process improvements via control system modifications and experience in diagnosing and fixing complex process and control system faults.
- Knowledge of Chemical Handling.
- Knowledge of basic hydraulic principles.
- Proficient with working from electrical drawings.
- Full UK driving licence (Will be required to undertake our driver assessment).

- Good verbal communications skills, self – motivated with the ability to react quickly and work calmly under pressure.
- In depth knowledge of fault finding, calibration, testing, investigation and in technical aspects such as flow meters, process instrumentation and other measurement devices are required.
