Dovehaven Care Homes are Recruiting for a Host/Hostess to join our team at Cedar Garden, Tag Lane, Preston. Working 9am- 3pm with ever other weekend involved, 18hr contract available.

Cedar Garden is a 30 bed dementia specialist, male only facility. Our aim is to ensure all our residents feel as comfortable as possible, our homes promote independence, dignity and respect through positive risk taking and empowerment.

About the role:

As a host/hostess you will provide a front of house service in this prestigious home. Serviced by our fully trained Chefs, residents receive excellent meal choices and we would expect the service that is provided to be similar to restaurant quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service of meals both in the dining room and individual bedrooms.
  • Morning Coffee and Afternoon Tea service.
  • Service of drinks to guests/visitors throughout the day.
  • Setting of dining room for each meal service.
  • Clearing of dining room tables following meals.
  • Clearing of rooms of dirty dishes etc. throughout the day from bedrooms and lounge areas.
  • Ensuring that all rooms have jugs of water/juice with glasses, which are changed daily.
  • Ensure that the drinks station in the lounge/dining room are kept clean tidy and replenished.
  • Ensure that satellite kitchens are clean and tidy and replenished.
  • Ensure that drinks station in the lobby is clean, tidy and replenished with supplies.
  • Discussion with residents on a daily basis in regards to meal choices and relaying the choices to the Chef.
  • For all new residents moving into the home completing their likes/dislikes regarding meal and beverage choices.
  • Ensuring that clients who go out into the garden have tea, coffee, juice etc. throughout their time there.
  • To ensure that the cushions and umbrellas are collected in from the chairs, tables, etc. from out in the garden prior to going home or in the event of rain during the day.
  • Any additional tasks as allocated by the Chef during the day.

Skills and Experience:

  • Caring and sensitive to the needs of others.
  • Committed to providing service excellence.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Waiting on experience in a restaurant environment is desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • deliver the best possible standards for residents in our care.
  • team player with good organisation and time management skills.
  • ability to work under pressure effectively.
