Our client has been established for almost half a century and are recognised as the UK's market leader in the design, manufacture and service of standard and bespoke recycling and waste management special purpose machinery for supply throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Production Manager to complement their professional senior management team.

Reporting directly to the CEO and based near Preston, the successful Production Manager candidate will be tasked with the overall management of the entire manufacturing production process and team, working with a team of 30+ in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the manufacturing function whilst maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring manufacturing lead times are achieved.

Core duties for this varied and challenging role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Implementing and maintaining Health and Safety standards and ensuring all employees comply with relevant industry standard health & safety guidelines.
  • Commitment to reducing expense and increasing productivity on an ongoing basis.
  • Setting ambitious production goals and communicating these to key personnel, whilst ensuring that final quality products meet both quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous improvement on design and technology.
  • Implementation of and ongoing commitment to Kanban and Kaizen management systems.
  • Production control with KPI's reported and ownership of the Production department.
  • Utilising your strong leadership qualities and providing motivation, support, mentoring and guidance to all employees whilst being a confident and approachable leader.
  • Maintaining all production related documentation
  • Problem solving on the shop floor and undertaking efficient Materials planning and job scheduling and adopting a Fast "make to order" Production and processing strategy.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic and self-motivated Production Manager with proven shop floor management experience and a desire to remain very much hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, offering the opportunity to identify and implement both process and continuous improvements to improve efficiencies on an ongoing basis, and drawing on your experience and knowledge of costings, build times and rules of work in progress to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction as well as commercially beneficial production levels are achieved and exceeded.
