About the school:

The Brittons Academy is an Ofsted rated Good school (June 2021) located in the London Borough of Havering. You will be joining a new Principal as they step up from Vice Principal in September. This is an exciting time to join the school as they take the academy to the next level and help their pupils achieve the outstanding outcomes they deserve.

You will work closely with the newly promoted Principal to lead on further enhancing all areas of curriculum, teaching & learning and assessment. You will be at the forefront of developing bespoke professional development opportunities for staff who value the 'open to learn' culture. You will play a leading role in the implementation of the academy's "Raising Standards" strategy, ensuring the very best academic outcomes for all learners.

To be successful you will have:

  • Experience in leading curriculum development and managing innovation and change
  • Knowledge of how to use information and data to set targets, raise attainment
  • and achievement
  • QTS - essential
  • An understanding of how children and young people learn to develop and progress through life stages and events
  • The ability to manage school information and data for recording, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • The ability to lead, model and manage positive behaviour, good order and assertive discipline

Responsibilities:

  • Planning using the schools framework and school procedures, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Monitoring and developing the quality of provision, the curriculum and teaching and learning in the designated area of responsibility
  • Promote and deliver the Academy's approach to behaviour and attendance, applying policy consistently and fairly so that the wellbeing, progress and achievement of all children is supported
  • The line management of designated staff, which may include performance management (in accordance with the school's performance management framework for teaching and support staff) and direct observation of teaching, learning and professional practice, training and continuing professional development.
  • The management, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of information and data to support school objectives, target setting, pupil attainment and achievement and reporting to parents, students and governors
  • Managing resources including budgets
  • Covering classes in line with the schools cover arrangements when a teacher is absent
