The OpportunityWe're seeking an experienced and values-driven Head of Retail Operations to lead the national field sales and capability strategy for a regulated UK retailer. Reporting directly into the Executive Team, this role is critical to the business's mission: delivering meaningful, compliant, and customer-first services at scale.

You will lead a field-based team of Sales Managers and Learning & Development Managers, overseeing performance, training, and culture across a large multi-site estate. You will also work closely with Regional and Divisional Managers to ensure alignment between operational performance and sales capability in every location.

This is a high-impact, highly visible role suited to a commercial operator who thrives in regulated, customer-focused environments someone who knows what it takes to lead in a complex, multi-region operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the national retail sales operation, including structure, performance, and culture transformation

  • Directly manage a UK-wide team of Sales Managers and Learning & Development Managers

  • Build and deliver scalable onboarding, coaching, and performance development programmes

  • Ensure all sales activity is fully FCA compliant, ethical, and customer-focused

  • Work in partnership with Regional and Divisional Managers to drive consistent operational and sales excellence across the retail estate

  • Analyse sales performance and drive uplift through actionable insight and best-practice scaling

  • Collaborate across functions-Operations, Compliance, and Commercial-to deliver aligned execution

  • Regularly engage with frontline teams through national site visits and coaching interventions

  • Be a cultural leader, bringing energy and purpose to the field while driving performance

What We're Looking ForWe're looking for a dynamic, hands-on commercial leader with experience overseeing large field operations-someone who understands how to lead sales teams in highly regulated sectors and create sustainable growth through people and process.

Essential Experience

  • Proven leadership in a large, multi-site environment, operating at national, divisional, or regional level

  • Strong background in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, telecoms, automotive, or regulated retail

  • Experience leading and developing field-based sales and L&D teams

  • Track record of sales transformation, capability building, and improving conversion at scale

  • Working knowledge of FCA regulation, and how to apply it operationally in a retail context

  • Demonstrated ability to blend commercial ambition with ethical and customer-first delivery

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, digital training platforms, and data-led performance management
