We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to support various infrastructure projects within the Water Industry. This is a 12-month contract role, operating inside IR35, where you will contribute technical, organisational, and supervisory expertise to help deliver project requirements to a high standard.
You will play a key role in a fast-paced Design & Build environment, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver practical, innovative solutions. The position involves supporting construction works with levelling and surveying services, setting out both above and below ground infrastructure installations, and ensuring design specifications are met on site.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Site Engineer, you will:
Act as the primary technical adviser on-site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives
Set out, level, and survey construction sites using GPS, Total Station, laser level, and other instruments
Work with site plans, technical drawings, construction schedules, and models to ensure accurate implementation
Check drawings and quantities to verify accuracy and conformance with project specifications
Oversee selection and requisition of materials, seeking cost-effective solutions
Liaise with designers, consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, and surveyors
Manage and interpret contract documents and ensure compliance with local construction regulations
Attend client meetings to provide progress updates and technical input
Supervise day-to-day site activities, including subcontractor performance and workforce monitoring (where applicable)
Organise and coordinate plant, site facilities, and resources to meet project deadlines
Oversee quality assurance and site health and safety compliance
Prepare site reports and maintain project documentation
Identify and resolve technical issues and unexpected on-site problems
Essential Skills and Experience:
Full UK Driving Licence
Proven experience in a civil engineering or construction environment, ideally with background in the water sector
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
Strong organisational and planning abilities with a methodical work approach
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients and stakeholders
Working knowledge of relevant building regulations and health & safety legislation
Strong IT literacy
Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities with good personal time management
Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to a dynamic project environment
