Our client, based in Sonning, are looking for a buyer with construction industry experience to join their contracts team on a temporary basis for the summer. They offer a friendly, supportive working environment as well as training.To be considered for this position you must have recent experience within the building/construction industry or in a building merchants, as your main duty is to organise materials and negotiate prices with current and new suppliers as well as supporting the wider team with other tasks when needed. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the wider team with any tasks that need attention
- Helping with all buying and procurement duties
- Dealing with Suppliers
- Taking instruction and actioning requests
- Managing materials for projects and then sourcing pricing
- Organise PO numbers
- Working on in-house systems and Zero
The successful candidate must be a team player, who is comfortable with taking instructions from other team members as well as happy working on your own. A solid understanding of IT systems and being able to pick up new systems with ease is required as you will be working alongside in-house systems as well as a well known databases. You must be a confident communicator as your be liaising with clients and suppliers regularly. - Experience working in purchasing/procurement.
- Experience working in the construction industry or a similar industry such as interior design.
- Proficient in IT systems including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload in line with business needs - Adaptable and confident.
