Interim Strategic Transport Procurement Officer
Based in Berkshire, hybrid working

We’re working with a council in Berkshire to recruit a Strategic Transport Procurement Officer to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-impact procurement activity across a portfolio of major transport-related projects. This is a pivotal interim role supporting ongoing operations while the council recruits permanently into the team.
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Transport Procurement Officer:
- Lead on the delivery of end-to-end procurement processes across a diverse portfolio including services, works, and concessions
- Ensure robust compliance with Council Procurement Rules, the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and the Procurement Act 2023
- Support complex and high-value procurements (e.g., services >£500k, works >£2m) while advising on best practice for smaller-scale procurement
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver procurement outcomes on time and to standard
- Provide expert guidance and technical support to colleagues, helping to build capability and ensure consistency
- Contribute to content updates on procurement systems and web platforms to support accessibility and transparency
- Drive improvements in procurement efficiency through workflow modernisation and process development
Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Transport Procurement Officer:
- Strong operational procurement experience, ideally within public sector transport or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of procurement regulations and commercial strategy, with experience managing concessions contracts highly desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to delivering practical solutions
