Mechanical Service Engineer

The Role: We are seeking a mechanically biased Engineer to undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and repairs of mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as building fabric tasks at a client site in Reading. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Pumps, Heating systems, AHUs, Water systems, and Legionella Control.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks as directed by the Supervisor, including water hygiene and plant inspections, plumbing, filter changes, and other mechanical duties.
- Update completed PPM tasks on the site's computerized maintenance system.
- Maintain engineering standards to maximize the operational effectiveness and reliability of plant and associated systems.
- Coordinate specialist subcontractors' requirements for both PPM and reactive works.
- Adhere to company QA and site procedures in all aspects of work.
- Ensure compliance with Company & Site Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain accurate site records/documentation associated with all site works.
- Inspect the condition of services and proactively deal with callouts/repairs as required.
- Attend site emergencies outside of normal working hours as part of the on-call rota.
- Conduct tasks within plantroom environments and at high levels, utilizing platforms and ladders provided.
- Safely keep and maintain all company-issued tools.
- Actively contribute to the success and support of the contract with a positive approach.
- Complete any other associated tasks as requested by management.
Skills & Experience:
- City & Guilds in Building Services Engineering or Plumbing Installation/Maintenance, or equivalent qualification.
- City & Guilds Refrigerant, Safe Handling certification.
- ACS/Gas Safe qualifications.
- Minimum 5 - 10 years of practical experience within the building services engineering industry.
- Previous experience working within a team environment.
- Completion of a time-served apprenticeship.
- Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and Building Management Systems.
