Our client is a world leader in asset finance, providing vendor and equipment finance across various markets, including Hi-tech, Transport, Construction, Industrial, Medical, Public Sector, and Agriculture. As a Credit Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and underwriting business channels, maintaining governance, and promoting best practices in credit processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of credit data and financial statements to determine risk in extending credit for mid-ticket transactions and sales-aid leasing/flow business as needed.
  • Evaluate internal and external credit reference agency reports, broker information, and market reports to assess credit risk.
  • Engage in due diligence meetings with internal and external stakeholders to clarify credit and collections information.
  • Use internal credit tools to generate and evaluate financial ratios to assess customers' financial status.
  • Assess collateral curve analysis in line with market, sector, and portfolio considerations to determine risk levels in extending credit.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports with clear, concise, and rational recommendations for credit decisions on all mid-ticket transactions.
  • Exercise personal sanctioning authority diligently and carefully; prepare recommendations for transactions beyond your sanctioning authority.
  • Ensure compliance with industry guidelines and statutory regulations, including consumer credit, treating customers fairly, anti-money laundering, and data protection.
  • Review existing transactions to evaluate payment history, collateral, and market/broker intelligence, and prepare recommendations for renewing internal credit ratings/facilities.
  • Ensure all transactions presented for pay-out meet the appropriate credit sanctions and that all documentation is complete and properly executed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of credit experience, with a focus on analyzing and interpreting financial statements and data across various industries and commercial backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical skills balanced with commercial insight and business focus.
  • Familiarity with asset finance and the range of product offerings and funding facilities available.
  • Ability to confidently analyze unsecured and secured transactions in the mid-ticket sector.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with peers and senior management effectively.
  • Good experience in risk assessment of structured lending and cash flow-based transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
