About the company

The client I am working for has been formed out of a number of already successful companies to build a section of the largest Civil Engineering project in Europe. The project is as prestigious as they come and will keep you busy until at least 2027. Notable projects include the development of high-speed rail networks that connect cities, the construction of eco-friendly mixed-use developments, and the implementation of smart city initiatives to enhance urban living. You will be working for one of the three companies within the business and future work will be provided from whichever one of those companies you are assigned to but they are all major players in the industry and all work on some of the most prestigious major infrastructure projects in the UK.

About the role

This is a superb, diverse, and exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join a hugely respected group of companies on rail, heavy civil engineering, and infrastructure projects.

They are now looking to strengthen their Commercial Team and there is an opening for a commercial manager to support their Senior Commercial Manager whilst also looking after a small team of quantity surveyors and senior quantity surveyors. You will be providing commercial support to the project director and commercial director as well as providing coordination of the contract insurance requirements, management of claims and renewals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. You will be involved with the reviewing, evaluation and delivery of payments as well as developing client relationships.

The project will involve working on the C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). C1 consists of 21.6km of high speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 16.04km twin-bored tunnel and five vent shafts handling both intervention
and tunnel ventilation facilities. The role will be based out of Maple Cross in Hertfordshire with occasional travel to Great Missenden.

Benefits and Rewards

Given that my client is working on the largest project in Europe you will be rewarded with a salary ranging between 80,000 - 95,000 + package on top. The package includes 25 days holiday, health cover and a pension scheme. There is also a car allowance of 7,000 per year.

Requirements

I am looking for someone who has strong NEC contract experience as well as experience of managing subcontractors. You will need to have experience working on major infrastructure projects for a UK-based contractor. On top of this, I am looking for someone technically capable so a degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred as well as having good stability throughout your CV.
