The Role:
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work on a 1:1 basis with children who have a range of Special Needs, providing them with tailored support and encouragement to help them thrive. You will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to children with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the individual needs of each child, ensuring that learning activities are engaging and accessible.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting self-confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
- Support children with social and emotional development, helping them to build resilience and overcome challenges.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Read, Write, Inc would be advantageous but not essential.
- Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
