Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Systems Centre Configuration Manager on a contract basis. This role involves managing and deploying software, operating systems, and security updates across a diverse Microsoft end-user and server estate.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively package, test, and deploy software, operating systems, security patches, and updates.
  • Maintain configuration documentation, participate in change management processes, and support end-user engineering tasks.
  • Understand and input into desktop engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Conduct data analysis and design solutions to mitigate security vulnerabilities, improve compliance efficiency, and minimise downtime.
  • Support and mentor colleagues in the use of relevant technology packages and industry standard procedures.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new IT infrastructure, ensuring secure-by-design and automate-by-default principles.
  • Conduct 3rd line support and troubleshooting as required.


Job Requirements:

  • Expert understanding of MSI/MSIX technology, including transforms.
  • Experience with Operating System Deployment (OSD) tools such as MDT and OS migrations (Windows 10 to Windows 11).
  • Experience in packaging applications for Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server platforms, with demonstrable experience in package defect remediation.
  • Proficiency in SCCM, MECM, and EPM/Intune administration.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Scripting experience using BAT, PowerShell, and VB or C# scripts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with enthusiasm for IT service management.
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude, comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to undertake additional reasonable duties as required for business operations.
