THE ROLE

The Thrybergh Combination Mill, based on the Rotherham site, is Europe's largest modern continuous bar mill and manufactures straight bar and coil predominantly for the automotive, aerospace, engineering and chain steel market sectors. Thrybergh produces high grade and special steels for demanding applications and these steels are made to International, UK or customer specifications. Thrybergh's product size ranges from 15.5mm up to 105mm with sections are rolled to rounds, squares and hexagons. Sizes vary by steel grade.

The Shift Production Technician will reporti directly to the Team Leader in the Coil & Cut team and ultimately the Shift manager. Working alongside a multi-disciplined production team the Shift Procution Technician role will safely ensure that all routine planned maintenance schedules are completed in line with the plan and that feedback is provided to determine forthcoming maintenance priorities. The Mechanical technician will also be responsible for responding to, coordinating, and resolving breakdown situations, and the responsibility for carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance to mechanical plant.

The Shift Production Technician role is integral to the Coil & Cut production team and at times will require operational tasks/jobs (none engineering related) to be carried out.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Recognised Mechanical apprenticeship (BTEC Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Mechanical experience of manufacturing industry and use of mechanical equipment, specialist tools, lifting equipment for example
  • Basic hydraulic, welding and pipefitting
  • Previous experience Mechanical maintenance of handling equipment, pumps and pipework systems
  • Previous experience of PPM and reporting of PPM activities and breakdowns
  • Previous experience of maintenance of Gearbox's and coupling systems
  • A good understanding and knowledge of Health Safety Legislation with experience of adhering to SWP's, risk assessments, procedures and permit systems
  • Good level of problem solving awareness, with an ability to fault find of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
