In a nutshell To produce transport plans for multiple sites and to produce the national backhaul plan which delivers circa £35m revenue. The role holder is responsible for the production of financial reports and invoices equating to circa £50m. The role holder will also carry out daily problem resolution and root cause analysis of any operational issues.What I need to do I deliver operational excellenceResponsible for building and resourcing the transport schedule for multiple sites (e.g. the bond and primary consolidation centres), accounting for cost, maximising trailer fill and ensuring warehouse capability to safeguard stock availability and providing a high quality service to our depots.Ensure transport solutions are sourced from depots and hauliers to cover all loads at a cost of approx. £8 million per annum.Ensure all backhaul requests are planned and executed correctly to generate an annual revenue of approx. £43 million per annum.Negotiating rates (within pre-defined parameters) and arranging transport for ad-hoc requests whilst ensuring the delivery of an effective solution.I support in the delivery of key commercial targetsResponsible for raising invoices to suppliers to ensure accurate and timely payment. Producing financial reports for the network by collating daily and weekly information and validating this with the depots and third parties.Collate, monitor and input data relating to, but not restricted to, inter-location transfers, KPI reporting, project activity and load failure reports.I make decisions that put ‘customers' at the heart of everything I doMonitor haulier KPIs and challenge inadequate performance to ensure high service levels to our depots.Liaise with third parties and depots to resolve day-to-day operational issues.Influence and manage expectations of depots, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure a high service level at the best possible cost.I positively lead changeInvestigate errors to identify root cause and make recommendations for improvement to prevent reoccurrence.Administer the national backhaul plan by advising key stakeholders on opportunities to reduce cost, minimise empty journey legs and increase round trips, whilst adhering to service level agreements.I support the delivery of the logistics people planWorking with management team to identify and develop individual skill set to be part of a high performing team.How I will succeedBackhaul and depot plans completed by 14:00 daily.Financial summary work completed by 14:00 on Tuesday of week 1 and 16:00 on Tuesday for every other week.Backhaul benefit budget achieved.Zero load failuresWhat I need to know Attention to detail with good reporting and analytical skills.Ability to communicate and influence well at all levels.Intermediate capability with Microsoft Excel.Ability to work well under pressure and hit deadlines.Understanding of transport costs and budgets.What I need to showWe are trusting each other, working together: Engage and liaise with depots, third parties and internal stakeholders to plan and resource transport solutions.We are making it simpler: Continually evaluate processes to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies.We are delivering great service, driving sales: Day-to-day problem resolution and root cause analysis of any operational issues to ensure optimum execution of transport plan.We are making it happen: Create and resource transport plans to ensure a high service level at the best possible cost.We are treating every pound as our own: Identify opportunities to reduce costs by minimising empty haulage legs and increasing round trips.We are cheering on our progress: Work as part of team to effectively communicate and deliver a high service level to our depotsImportant Information

  • Shift times between 07:00-17:00 - dependant on work requirement
