Snr Project Design Engineer - Machine & Process Automation

55,000 - 65,000 / award winning pension / excellent bonus / 35 days + B/Hs

You will be working for a global business who are world leader in their field (call JMT to discuss). This is an engineering role that can offer a lot of variation in your day to day; you will be developing new processes, running your own projects, helping/doing detailed design on new equipment such as automated equipment or piping design and working closely with senior management in various departments.

This is a responsable, broad role that would be ideal for somoene who has been in a senior design, development role at some point in thier career, or perhaps design management and is looking to step back into a technical project role.

The purpose of the job: Supporting a plant/production environment improving current processes, developing new machiner and automation (NPI/NPD), leading CAPEX projects and supporting design.

  • Act as a Snr Mechanical Engineer.
  • You aren't managing people, but are managing resource to help develop automation processes.
  • Develop automation processes within a new facility.
  • Lead key elements of capital projects (CAPEX) to expand the capabilities.
  • Manage the engineering aspects of all new customer products and trials to the repair workshop and plant and define and control the standards, specifications and quality.
  • Support the New Business Development team to technically evaluate and define realistic specifications.
  • Support in the recruitment, training and development of skilled workshop technicians.
  • You will be working autonomously on a day to day basis whilst working closely with stakeholders in design, engineering and the shop flop.

Background & experience:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar. HND as a minimum.
  • Experience working as a mechanical design engineer at some point would fit well.
  • Experience working in a plant environment, potentially as a manufacturing, production, process engineer with project management would be advantageous.
  • Must have experience / good knowledge of machine automation and process improvement within this.
  • Knowledge of piping would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills
