We currently have a great opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a specialist technology division of one of the world's largest chemical companies.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will manage activities within a complex, technology business and will act as technical lead and mechanical design authority for all capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

      • Technical management of activities in the engineering department for new and existing technology
      • Provide engineering expertise regarding the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of capital equipment
      • Act as Responsible Mechanical Engineer/Design Authority on engineering decisions
      • Work closely with R&D, Commercial and Manufacturing teams to develop technology, improve performance, reliability, operational safety and costs
      • Assess, test and develop technology and assets to improve quality and performance
      • Ensure all assets operate in full compliance with internal and external statutory safety standards
      • Support engineering work for customer projects ensuring timely delivery to specification
      • Travel to customer and supplier sites to manage engineering activities

Key Requirements

      • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer
      • Preferably chartered or working towards
      • Experience managing a multi-disciplined engineering team in a highly regulated environment, chemical, automotive, aerospace or similar.
      • Significant knowledge/experience of manufacturing capital equipment and processes
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence at a senior level
      • A desire to drive continuous improvements in technology and engineering systems
      • Flexibility to travel to suppliers and customers
