Are you an effective and hands-on Warehouse Manager looking for an opportunity to lead receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations? Our client, a leading global organisation, is seeking a Warehouse Manager to oversee the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing, and despatch of a wide variety of products to our key national customers and support the Warehouse team with daily management and leadership.

Job Type: Full-time, permanent role

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm

Location: Runcorn (fully on-site)

Salary: £40,000 (-/+) dependent on candidate experience

Responsibilities:

  • Processing orders and operating IT systems (Stock Control, Courier, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Liaising with transport companies and clients
  • Answering queries on the landline
  • Ensuring quality objectives and delivery deadlines are met
  • Loading and unloading freight, including International containers
  • Prioritising workload and managing time efficiently
  • Administering stock control and conducting stock checks
  • Taking deliveries and checking purchase orders
  • Maintaining the organisation and structure of the warehouse
  • Meeting targets and deadlines set by management
  • Ensuring the warehouse is kept clean and presentable
  • Implementing rearrangement of warehouse layout based on inventory stock levels
  • Maintaining warehouse staff through recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Contributing to team effort and accomplishing results in favour of the organisation
  • Motivating, organising, and encouraging teamwork within the warehouse to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a warehouse manager, preferably in an FMCG company
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practises
  • Experience in international container unloading
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Hands-on experience with warehouse management software and databases
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage staff
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer literacy, including ERP and WMS
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of accuracy and keen eye for detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritise a demanding workload
  • Positive and flexible approach to new challenges
  • Demonstrate teamwork and encourage a happy working environment
  • Good time-management and interpersonal skills
  • H&S awareness and lead by example

As the Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the warehouse. You will communicate effectively and work with all third-party logistic partners to ensure targets are met.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of warehouse staff management, including holiday requests, contracts, reviews, training, and routine feedback
  • Coordinating activities with relevant managers to ensure functions do not impede production-based activities
  • Developing each team member's potential and ensuring their personal development is achieved
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy on all company paperwork
  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture and supporting the implementation of new policies
  • Ensuring compliance with behaviour, hygiene, and quality systems
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the department
  • Fostering a positive working atmosphere through effective communication and constructive issue resolution
  • Demonstrating professionalism and being a role model as a member of the senior team
  • Performing any other duties necessary for the smooth running of the organisation
