Milk Education Manchester are recruiting Support Staff required for September 2024 and onwards. We are looking for Support Staff with an interest in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs as well as challenging behavior. The role will involve providing support to KS3 aged children in a Pupil Referral Unit that caters towards children who have been perminantly exculded, or are at risk of being so.

This role in a Pupil Referral Unit may require you to work with children on a one-to-one basis or a small group of children. You will need to have:

* Perseverance
* Empathy
* Resilience
* Patience
* Have an inner drive to want to make a difference and have a positive attitude towards their learning for the better
* Be aware and understanding of their Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

Your main duties and responsibilities include:

* Ensure the pupils stay on task by enforcing behavior management strategies
* Support and provide guidance to those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues
* Working alongside the teachers and parents to create individual behavioral plans
* Acting as a role model and contribute to a safe yet fun learning environment
* Deal with challenging situations calmly, using de-escalation strategies implemented by yourself and the teacher
