About the Role:
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join our team in Scarborough. This role, available either full-time or part-time, starts immediately or in September 2024 and involves supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

About the School:
The school caters to pupils aged 2 to 16 who experience moderate learning difficulties, autism, or similar communication difficulties. Their mission is to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st Century. The school is an academy for children with a range of special needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with autism, helping them to access the curriculum and develop social skills.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Create a structured and supportive environment to reduce anxiety and promote learning.
  • Assist with sensory and communication strategies to support students' needs.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children with autism in an educational setting.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Show patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Be committed to promoting the inclusion and well-being of all students.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
