Global Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager

Parkinson | Lee Executive Search are currently recruiting a Global HSE Manager for a leading client of ours, which operates within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

As Global HSE Manager you will be responsible for developing and driving the health, safety, and environmental strategy internationally. This role involves the implementation and management of ISO-certified systems and requires influencing and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure compliance, enhance safety culture, and improve overall HSE performance.

This Global HSE Manager duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global HSE strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the integration of HSE considerations into business planning and decision-making processes.
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) systems across all international sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Influence and collaborate with senior management, site managers, and employees to foster a proactive HSE culture.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to regional and site-specific HSE teams.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs and workshops to various stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Lead and oversee investigations of HSE incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor HSE performance globally.
  • Prepare and present detailed HSE performance reports to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest HSE regulations, technologies, and best practices.
  • Promote and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HSE performance.

Parkinson | Lee Executive Search are particularly keen to speak with HSE Managers that have first-hand multi-site / international experience in addition to the following:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), NEBOSH, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HSE experience, with at least 5 years in a global or multi-site role.
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
  • Strong knowledge of international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse cultural environments.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term HSE strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex HSE concepts to various audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, analyse data, and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring of HSE initiatives.
  • Ability to navigate and respect diverse cultural practices and perspectives.
  • Happy to travel? This role will require you to travel at least 50% of the time to various sites, to conduct local meetings; training and development and for audit purposes.
