The Company:

We are a family farm milking 250 cows, rearing our own replacement dairy hfs and fattening remaining calves for beef, total 600 cattle to look after altogether.

We grow grass, maize silage and winter wheat.

We milk cows through a 10/10 Herringbone parlour, twice a day, but as near to 12-hour intervals as possible. The parlour has Auto ID with heat and rumination collars. Milking takes 3 to 3.5 hrs finishing, between 7 and 7.30pm depending on who is milking.

Location of the job:

We farm 7 miles south of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Salary & Benefits Package:

* Competitive pay rate to be discussed.
* Free Accommodation available - Static Caravan - which is quite modern and sited within the farm building complex. It is not suitable for children or pets.
* 50 hour working week.
* This is a permanent full-time position.
* Every other weekend off, including Friday where possible.

The Job Role Details and Key Responsibilities:

* Role duties vary and will include milking, shed cleaning, young stock work, feeding and tractor driving.
* The job entails milking as part of a two-person team, approx. 7 milking's per week.
* If you are not milking, then you will be cleaning the cow and youngstock accommodation and bedding down with fresh sawdust and bedding down other cattle with straw using a bedding machine.
* Calf feeding is an option and in the longer term feeding the dairy cows and other livestock.
* This is the routine work after that it can only be described as general livestock/general farm work together with some tractor driving and maintenance work, to be decided by your experience and trying to fit you to jobs you are best suited for.
* We try to keep maintenance in house, and I am impressed if you have developed maintenance skills.
* Livestock, milking and managing dairy cows must be something you enjoy if this job is to be for you, but enthusiasm for other work would be a welcome extra.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:

* Enjoy working with livestock animals.
* Have farm work experience.
* Live local to the site or prepared to relocate for work.
* Have / be willing to train for a telehandler certificate and other livestock related courses.
