R&D / Design Engineer Position Overview

  • Job duties
  • Design and development- using Autocad Inventor CAD software.
  • Project planning - developing and administrating of roadmap project planning process so projects are introduced on time and within budget to meet parent company global R+D strategy and regular reporting to senior management.
  • Drawing office administration - drawing/specification/report approval and systemised control of all R+D related documentation within QA system.
  • Information gathering at the initial stages of projects will form a major part of the job role, maintaining accurate project information throughout.
  • Responsible for scheduling of internal and external resources in order to achieve agreed milestones and deadlines.
  • To keep abreast of current trends, practices, market developments and regulatory changes that impact on the company's products.
  • Prototype testing (both in-house and external) and documenting reports. Incorporating of test/certificate/reports into certification/literature/labelling liaising with QA.
  • ERP system - Involvement/maintenance of any area within the ERP system, but primarily BOMs, components, routings, configurations and cutting sheets will be necessary for existing and new products. Collation of data, of which accuracy and attention to detail is critical.
  • Based in Sittingbourne, but also occasionally at other divisions within the group
  • Car and driving licence with business travel insurance for occasional travel from normal place of work.

R&D / Design Engineer Position Requirements

  • Innovation project management including project scope, specification, budget and timeline. Project status reports.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in sheet metal fabrication in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years drawing office experience. Competence in use of 3D CAD /CAM software drawing methods and drawing control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Must possess a high degree of creativity in product design and manufacturing techniques.

R&D / Design Engineer Position Remuneration

  • The role is office based in Sittingbourne, but this will be changing to Aylesford later in the year. The salary range is £35-40k, 20days hol + bank hols and 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday 0800-1630).
