Are you passionate about design and technology? Do you have a practical background and confidence to use a variety of workshop and catering equipment? Do you enjoy working with students and supporting them in their learning? If yes, then we may have an exciting opportunity for you!Hays Education are looking for a food technology technician to join the dynamic and creative food technology team within this school based in the West Lancashire area. You will be responsible for providing timely and effective technical assistance to all teaching staff, supporting them in achieving the aims and objectives of the department and the school.

This is a full time temporary position on an ongoing basis to start ASAP.Your new role

  • Preparing, setting up and checking equipment for food technology lessons.
  • Supporting teaching staff and students during lessons with anything practical
  • Putting away equipment after lessons and ensuring a safe environment
  • Organising and storing equipment and checking stock
  • Maintaining and modifying equipment as needed
  • Administrative tasks such as ordering materials and stock, keeping records and updating resources
  • Organising and storing students' work

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant qualifications in art, design or technology related activities or equivalent experience
  • Good knowledge of design technology techniques, kitchen equipment and materials
  • Commitment to health and safety in schools
  • Strong commitment to supporting students' learning and achievement
  • A DBS on the update service, or the willingness to get one ASAP.
