Robert Half is recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join a international business based in South Birmingham.

Job Opportunity: Part-Qualified or Qualified by Experience Accountant (AAT, CIMA, ACCA)

We are seeking a part-qualified accountant (AAT, CIMA, or ACCA) - or a candidate who is qualified by experience - with strong attention to detail, solid problem-solving skills, and broad experience across various accounting functions. This is a varied and hands-on role supporting both UK and US operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bank reconciliations for GBP, USD, and EUR accounts

  • Process sales and purchase invoices/credit notes

  • Post cash receipts and payments to the appropriate ledgers

  • Manage credit control, including issuing debtor statements and following up on overdue accounts

  • Produce regular cash flow reports

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of payroll and PAYE

  • Post journals and complete nominal ledger reconciliations

  • Assist with weekly and monthly purchase ledger payments and reconcile supplier statements

  • Apply job costing methods and help identify losses on individual jobs

  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensure VAT compliance

  • Support month-end and year-end audit processes

  • Use financial software proficiently (e.g. Sage Line 50, QuickBooks, Excel); strong Microsoft Office skills are essential

  • Produce and interpret management accounts

  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations

  • Handle ad hoc accounting tasks as required

Additional Information:

  • This role requires communication with external accountants in both the UK and US

  • Workload is expected to be divided roughly 50/50 between UK and US responsibilities
