PSV Chargehand Technician / PSV Chargehand Mechanic

Salary: £54 870 p/annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Work Schedule: 4 on and 4 off (nights)

We are currently seeking a dedicated PSV Chargehand Technician to perform essential maintenance and repairs on buses. This PSV Technician role is vital for ensuring vehicle reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, repairing and maintaining buses
  • Checking the quality of repairs and following safety instructions and reporting any issues
  • Investigating and diagnosing any mechanical and electronic faults
  • Recording those faults, and the work using a tablet
  • Making decisions about road calls
  • Liaising engineering team to avoid lost mileage.
  • Updating the Service Manager on progress, and helping with planning
  • Potentially taking on a few Service Manager responsibilities when they’re away.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in the PSV Technician field, with comprehensive vehicle maintenance knowledge.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety standards, essential for a PSV Technician.
  • NVQ level 2 qualification for maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles
  • OR at least five years’ experience repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles which you will need to evidence.
  • IRTEC and SMT qualification which you will need to evidence.
  • PCV licence
