We are currently seeking a skilled and conscientious Carpenter Multi to join our Clients team inf Southampton. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude, a flexible approach, and the ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times. This role involves providing reactive repairs, planned preventive maintenance, and project work across the university’s residential halls and estates.

Day to Day of the role:

Carry out a wide variety of carpentry repairs in occupied student accommodation, buildings, and empty rooms.
Tasks include fitting various types of doors (including fire doors), first and second fixing carpentry, kitchen installations, ceramic wall tiling, carpet tiling, and minor decorative works.
Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trades related to repair requests.
Ensure the quality of work meets the highest possible standards at all times.
Deliver a professional and safe maintenance and repairs service, supporting all trades.
Respond swiftly to emergency situations and resolve them efficiently.
Keep the customer/office informed about progress and plans.
Undertake all work efficiently and cost-effectively, minimising non-productive time wherever possible.
Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a safe, clean, and workable condition.
Use a PDA to maintain accurate records of works undertaken with photographic evidence as necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

NVQ level 2-3 in carpentry or equivalent.
Competent in at least 2 other secondary skills.
2 – 5 years of experience working in Building Maintenance and an Educational environment.
Excellent communication skills and comfortable dealing with residents and representatives of the University of Southampton.
Organised approach to meet demands effectively and timely.
Team player with a proactive attitude towards personal development.
Practical approach to health and safety.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to self-manage and prioritise work efficiently.
