Credit Controller

• Job Type: Full-time position with working hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm

• Salary: to £30,000 per annum + Free on-site car parking, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension scheme

Reed Accountancy are working with a prominent freight forwarding logistics company, in search of a dedicated Credit Controller to join their team in central Southampton. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about managing customer accounts and thrives in a high-volume environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the sales ledger, ensuring timely payment of debts, and managing the collection of company debtors.

Day to Day of the Role:

• Manage the sales ledger, ensuring timely payment of debts and adherence to credit/payment terms.
• Follow up on payments as needed and respond to client enquiries.
• Process and reconcile invoices, posting receipts to accounting systems.
• Prepare statements, client status reports, and all required information.
• Provide administrative support to the team.
• Check customer credit ratings and take a proactive role in debt management.
• Maintain strong relationships with both external clients and internal colleagues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to reconcile complex accounts.
• Efficient and organised with excellent prioritisation skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with accountancy software.
• Professional and confident communication skills, with a diplomatic approach.
• Experience with Sage 50 Accounts is a plus, but not essential as full training will be provided.
• Qualifications or training in bookkeeping or accounts are desirable.
• Proficient computer skills, particularly with spreadsheets.
• Previous experience in office work, customer service, or accounts.
