Lighting Controls Commissioning Engineer/Project Manager | Thirsk, North Yorkshire | Full Time | c. £35,000-£45,000 per annum

Our client is a leading lighting design and Lutron lighting controls dealer. They are seeking to recruit and develop an experienced lighting controls commissioning engineer. Based in North Yorkshire, they work on highly prestigious projects across the UK and occasionally abroad.

This role would suit an ambitious lighting controls engineer, electrician or custom installer with experience in commissioning complex systems in residential or high-end commercial environments, who wants to broaden their role and progress. The employer can flex the role to provide as much responsibility and challenge as someone can handle, if you can do all of the below plus more, our client wants to hear from you.

As both a leading lighting design firm and a Diamond level Lutron dealer our client has a unique 'end to end' approach, and a very close working relationship with their clients. They are looking to recruit someone who can learn, grow, and manage substantial parts of the business in the future.

This role will be based out of the offices in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and you need to be within a commutable distance of Thirsk (most of the team live within c.1-1.5 hours of the office.) Projects are northern biased but the team work nationally and being onsite when required are important.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Electrically qualified (ideally) or electrically very competent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in high end residential construction.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in lighting controls
  • Networking (IT) experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Proactive, curious, hungry to learn, and with a 'can do' attitude
  • Organised and professional
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good communicator with a wide range of people (e.g.; clients, site teams)
  • Willing and able to travel to project sites. The amount varies every week; the role is not entirely office-based but it's not 'working away' either
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced small team environment
  • Driving licence
  • Fluent in English
  • Permanent leave to live and work in the UK

What will your role look like?

  • Designing, programming and commissioning lighting control systems, primarily Lutron HomeWorks
  • Installing and commissioning Lutron electric blinds and curtain tracks
  • Helping to solve onsite lighting issues which can be very ‘hands-on”
  • Inputting into the company’s design process with installation expertise
  • Helping to proactively manage projects 'on the ground' through liaison with and providing expertise to the client and wider project team, e.g.; architect, M&E consultant, other design specialists, builder and electricians
  • Managing the flow of goods and invoices to ensure the site teams have the kit from the company that they need when they need it
  • Helping maintain the office premises and lighting displays

What can you expect in return?

  • Great personal development and being involved with enormously rewarding projects
  • The team share in ownership of the company
  • Company vehicle
  • Private healthcare
  • Holiday increases with long service
