My client are seeking an Assistant Café Manager to support the Café General Manager in the day-to-day operations of their bustling catering facilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring a high-quality food service and customer experience, as well as managing and motivating the hospitality team.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Uphold a high standard of food quality and customer service, being well-versed in the menu and daily specials, especially allergens.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of both back of house and front of house operations to ensure consistency and provide assistance as needed.
  • Enforce company regulations, administrative systems and implement procedural changes as instructed.
  • Manage and train full-time and part-time assistants/trainees, including daily instruction, on-the-job coaching, performance reviews and welfare.
  • Maintain high staff motivation and ensure effective communication between kitchen and service areas.
  • Stay attentive to customer needs, catering to those seeking quick refreshments or a leisurely lunch and fostering a culture of outstanding customer experience.
  • Handle customer feedback positively and manage internal and external communications in the Manager’s absence.
  • Assist with staff training plans and record-keeping, maintaining food and service standards in collaboration with the CafĂ© Manager.
  • Ensure staff adhere to the highest standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Manage cost-effective supplier use, place food orders according to the menu plan and maintain stock control.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the cafĂ© using cleaning schedules and records.
  • Ensure all equipment is used correctly and report any failures promptly.
  • Observe and enforce all statutory regulations and company policies regarding Health, Safety, Fire and Hygiene.
  • Assist in the café’s development and innovation, creating an exciting environment for both visitors and staff.
  • Be part of the larger management team, working with Directors and external organisations to maintain our reputation for service and quality.
  • Undertake training to stay updated with food hygiene regulations.
  • Work flexibly across different areas under the Seasons brand as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar managerial role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a catering environment.
  • Competency in administrative tasks and familiarity with industry-standard software.
  • A team player with a flexible approach to work.

The ideal candidate would have both front and back of house experience. The working week will be alternate weekends taking one day off every week (so in a fortnight you have 4 days off) It will be a salaried position with the expectation that the day starts around 8am and finishes between 5.15 and 6pm
