Overview

We are excited to offer a fantastic career opportunity for a Deputy Manager at a new children's home in St Helens. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and young people. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to shape the culture and ethos of the home, ensuring a supportive and positive environment for both the residents and staff.



Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including professionals and family members.
  • Promote and support children and young people in education, training, or employment.
  • Engage in life story work, restorative justice, and systemic family-based approaches to create a therapeutic environment.
  • Holistically promote the emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing of the children.
  • Participate in care planning, assessments, and contextual safeguarding.
  • Help develop life skills for children and young people to prepare them for life post-18.
  • Support and manage staff, including recruitment, induction, supervision, and professional development.
  • Assist in budgetary control and effective rota management.
  • Prepare for and attend key meetings, including strategy meetings.
  • Ensure staff respond appropriately to child protection concerns and follow relevant protocols.
  • Assist in holding team meetings and keeping staff informed of policies and procedures.
  • Handle administrative duties related to the home and provide reports for directors/board of governors and external inspectorates.


Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' experience in a residential children's provision.
  • Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent, with a willingness to complete Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management within residential children's home settings.
  • Ideally, knowledge of mental health, attachment and trauma, and the PACE model.
  • Supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Computer literacy.

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or an equivalent and relevant qualification, such as a degree.
  • At least one year of experience in a residential children's home (preferred).
  • A valid driving license.
