SEND Teaching Assistant (mainstream & Specialist schools available)

Location:St Helens

Contract Type:Temporary - full-time and part-time options available.

Salary:£90- £105 per day.

Start Date:June 2024/September 2024

Hays Education are working with a number of specialised and mainstream schools based in the St Helens area. These roles are working to support children with additional needs from 4-12 and will involved supporting the students with targeted interventions outlined in their Education Health Care plan. About the role:In this role, you will support children inside and outside the classroom, helping them to achieve their potential academically and socially.As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will connect directly, on a personal level, with the brilliant children and young people cared for by the school - making sure they get the very best from their education. Everyone has so much potential and will often rely on you to guide their learning and development journeys.Supporting children with ASD and ADHD needs is hugely important and rewarding work. You will receive unwavering support offered by the incredibly talented team of teachers, teaching assistants, and pastoral staff. As you help the children and young people achieve real and significant progress, you will enjoy having a direct, positive impact on their developing lives.

Key Responsibilities:Provide support and assistance in the educational, emotional, and social development of the students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher and the SEND Coordinator.Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural management plans.Help manage student behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the child's overall development and well-being.Assist in managing challenging behaviours and creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment.

If you come from a social care background, the army, outdoor activity centres and are eager to help vulnerable children and young people to live happy, fulfilling lives, this is the role for you. We will provide you with full training and development to succeed within your role.You will be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outdoors according to individual need. Taking a responsive and caring approach, you may be running classroom activities, leading outdoor experiences or supervising children as they explore further afield.The school is built on great teamwork and mutual support.
