Role: Underwriting & Operations Team Manager
Location: Stockton-on-Tees (some travel required)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience)

We're seeking a Manager for our Underwriting & Operations Department - someone who’s not just great with process, but passionate about developing people, managing risk, and driving performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Team Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of our Underwriting and Admin teams, ensuring outstanding customer service, accuracy in underwriting, and full compliance with internal and insurer guidelines. You’ll play a critical role in supporting the Schemes & Underwriting Manager, developing products, and upskilling the team to meet high standards.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Managing and motivating a busy underwriting and operations team
- Providing technical guidance and resolving escalated queries
- Monitoring workloads and performance through effective delegation and prioritisation
- Conducting audits, risk reports, and ensuring policies are underwritten accurately
- Supporting training and development plans for staff across the business
- Driving improvements in customer service, operational efficiency, and underwriting quality
- Building strong relationships with insurers and key stakeholders
- Handling escalated complaints in line with our procedures
- Championing compliance, learning & development, and staff engagement

- Proven experience in underwriting or insurance operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills
