Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Social Worker to take on the role of Adults Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) in Stockton-on-Tees. The IRO plays a crucial role in safeguarding the rights and promoting the well-being of adults receiving social care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chairing reviews of care and support plans for adults receiving social care services, ensuring that their views, wishes, and preferences are central to the decision-making process.
  • Conducting independent reviews of cases where there are concerns about the quality or effectiveness of care provision, including safeguarding concerns and complaints.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care and support plans, ensuring that they are reviewed and updated regularly in response to changing needs and circumstances.
  • Providing support and guidance to social work teams and other professionals involved in the care of adults, promoting best practice and adherence to relevant legislation and policies.
  • Advocating for the rights of adults receiving social care services, including their right to be involved in decisions about their care and support.
  • Maintaining accurate records of reviews and decisions, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience working within adult social care, including experience in a safeguarding or review role.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to adult social care, safeguarding, and review processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with service users, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to upholding the principles of independence, empowerment, and dignity in social care practice.
