Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant (Supply) - January Start

Academics are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within one of our partnering schools on a part-time, supply basis from January. This role will involve providing one-to-one support for a non-verbal child in Reception who will be attending on a reduced timetable.



Role Details

  • Hours: 8:30am - 12:30pm

  • Days: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

  • Contract: Initially 6 weeks, with a strong possibility of extension while we await specialist provision

  • Setting: Reception (Early Years)



Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs

  • Use a calm, patient approach to help the child access learning and daily routines

  • Support communication using appropriate strategies and resources

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support plans

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment



About You

  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally non-verbal or early communication needs

  • A positive, nurturing attitude with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships

  • Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a supportive team

  • Experience in Early Years is beneficial but not essential

The role is based on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent easily accessible from Cheshire East and North Staffordshire areas.
