SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Stoke-on-Trent)

Astro Education are proud to be working with a wonderful school in Stoke-on-Trent, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The Role

  • Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position

  • Providing 1:1 support for a child with special educational needs

  • Delivering small group and individual interventions

  • Helping to create a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating classroom environment

Requirements. 

  • Primary area of need: Communication and Interaction

  • Additional needs in Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and Physical/Sensory development

  • Awaiting assessment for ASC and ADHD

  • Strong visual learning and number recognition skills

  • Requires support with attention, communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction

  • Benefits from visual routines, structured support, and calm, consistent guidance

  • Needs help with fine motor skills and safety awareness

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working with SEN / SEND is essential

  • Knowledge of strategies to support children with complex needs

  • Enthusiastic, caring, patient, and committed to making a difference

  • Able to promote engagement, emotional regulation, and independence

  • Works effectively as part of a wider school team
