Job Title: Lab and Pressure Testing Technician

Role Overview: The Lab and Pressure Testing Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory work, pressure testing, and quality control of thermal sprayed components. The role involves organizing and maintaining lab operations, performing various testing procedures, and supporting quality assurance tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Work:

    • Organize and manage day-to-day operations of the metallurgical laboratory.
    • Perform tests such as microscopy, metallurgical inspection, microhardness, bend, and tensile testing.
    • Analyze and monitor lab data, producing detailed reports.
    • Manage external corrosion testing.
    • Control lab test procedures, consumables, and equipment calibration.
  • Pressure Testing:

    • Conduct pressure tests on coated samples and customer products.
    • Record and monitor all pressure test results.
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the site's pressure testing systems.
  • Inspection:

    • Conduct goods-inward inspection and in-process inspection.
    • Perform final inspection to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
    • Manage the control and release of final inspection operations.
  • Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE):

    • Report non-conformances and ensure compliance with Bodycote Group Quality procedures.
    • Follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, using good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Degree-level education is desirable; A-levels and GCSEs (including Maths and English) are required.
  • Previous laboratory experience is important.
  • Knowledge of hardness and mechanical testing.
  • Familiarity with quality system requirements.

Salary/Package:

  • 30,000 per annum
