Our client, based in Somerset BA16 is a logistics company with a large 28,000 metre squared highly automated warehouse which operates 24/7/365.

They are currently seeking an experienced Shift Maintenance Supervisor who can lead a small team which fixes electro-mechanical faults and carries out preventative maintenance operations within a warehouse environment, it’s a hands-on role you will be on the tools around 40% of your time.

Key responsibilities

People Leadership including delivery of performance reviews, development and coaching of team, dealing with employee relations issues, and employee welfare and wellbeing.

Assist with planning of Planned Preventative Maintenance of automation equipment, including the auditing of the equipment.

Attend daily meetings & liaise with operations to ensure workload is prioritised correctly.

Organise improvements, repairs, and modifications.

Organise shift manning to achieve operational requirements.

Organise / assist in project installation work including cost reduction activities.

Compliance auditing, inclusive of health and safety.

Deputise for Site Manager in periods of absence. 

Skills, qualifications, and experience

Suitably qualified with a recognised engineering qualification (ONC minimum) or recognised apprenticeship, track record in people leadership and development

The salary is £45320 per annum plus £5,000 shift allowance plus all the usual benefits 6% pension, private healthcare.

It’s an average of 42 hours per week working from 0600–1800–0600 on a Panama shift.

NB – The Panama shift is a slow rotating shift pattern that uses 4 teams, and two 12-hr shifts to provide 24/7 coverage. The working and non-working days follow this pattern: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off. Each team works the same shift (day or night) for 14 days then switches over to the other shift for the next 14 days. After 28 days, the same sequence starts over.
