Plant Room Maintenance Engineer required for our Sudbury-based manufacturing client. Reporting directly to the facilities manager and working alongside another Plant Room Maintenance Engineer you will play a key part in the plant room where you will be working on preventative maintenance, maintaining and fixing any issues with the mechanical machines within the plant room. It is essential to be considered for this position of Plant Room Maintenance Engineer that you possess experience working in a commercial setting in a plant room where you have to deal with steam and iron pipes, and ideally have some knowledge electrical, plumbing, fabrication and general building maintenance but not essential.

The role

  • Maintain the fabric of the building, as well as key plant and systems.
  • Ensure that productivity throughout the factory continues with minimal disruption by means of planned maintenance to reduce corrective and reactive maintenance.
  • Delivery of planned repair and/or install of existing and new equipment projects.
  • Organise and liaise with onsite sub-contractors
  • Ensure daily checks and PPM’s are carried out on all key plant, recording information and making necessary corrections where needed.
  • Maintain a planned level of spares and materials to minimise the need for unplanned visits to external suppliers.

Required Experience

  • Must have previous maintenance experience gained in large operational buildings
  • Possess mechanical background in gas/steam and have plant room experience.
  • Electrical, plumbing and minor building works experience and qualifications is essential
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Must be confident with hand and power tools and working from height
  • Strong problem solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
