White Label Recruitment is proud to be working with a global special purpose manufacturing business in their search of an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.


Reporting to the Design Manager the Mechanical Design Engineer is primarily responsible for the creation of innovative and commercially attractive designs of automated special purpose machinery.


The Role:

  • Ensure the relevant design documents are issued in line with the schedule enabling agreed deliveries to be met.
  • Provide a high level of skill in interpreting the customer’s and regulatory requirements to ensure designs are perfectly aligned.
  • Apply technical due diligence by being process risk aware and applying FMEA, design studies and POP to mitigate risk.
  • Be commercially aware to maximise value to our customers and maintain a loyal customer base.
  • Assist Technical Sales, Innovations and Applications Team to ensure that all proposals are technically viable through due diligence.
  • Strive to add value to our customers, building partnerships based on trust, respect and flexibility.
  • Communicate effectively at all times and provide unrivalled extra service, unexpected and beyond anything our competitors provide.
  • Contribute to the department’s continuous improvement programme to ensure the business provides the highest possible value of service to our customers
  • Provide information relating to the mechanical design/ process throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that the mechanical design team has a clear understanding of the design concepts and schedule requirements.
  • Involved in machine commissioning activities in collaboration with the Head of Commissioning to ensure successful FAT and SAT.
  • Ensure all relevant design documents are in place in accordance with the standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO14001, ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 and support a culture of Lean and Continuous Improvement.


The Person:

  • Design of industrial automation equipment/machinery in a manufacturing environment would be a huge advantage
  • Experience in generation and verification of design documents. (Assembly drawings, detail drawings, parts lists, P&I diagrams, pneumatics diagrams).
  • Interpretation of customer requirements and presentation of design solutions at internal design reviews.
  • Commercially aware of the effective use of resources, scope change and implications of choice.
  • Applying technical due diligence, being risk aware, performing FMEA and using design studies and POP work to mitigate risk.
  • British and international standards relative to the design and installation of industrial automation systems.
  • Conducting risk assessments and generating technical documents in accordance with the Machinery Directive relative to the design and installation of industrial automation systems.
  • Validation procedures and application


Salary & Benefits:

  • Up-to £50,000 depending on experience
