Job Requirements of this Teaching Assistant job in Tamworth

  • Ability to effectively support students with challenging behaviour in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) school environment.
  • Experience working with young people of secondary school age.
  • Familiarity with OFSTED Good school standards and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to assist in implementing a broad, balanced, and flexible academic and social curriculum.
  • Willingness to fully include students in all aspects of school life and support their transition into Post 16 plans.

Qualifications or Certificates:

 Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Youth Work, Social Work, or related field.

 Relevant certifications in behaviour management or similar training programs.

Experience:

  • Proven experience working with challenging behaviour within a school environment or similar setting.
  • Experience in supporting the academic and social development of secondary school-aged students.
  • Familiarity with implementing strategies to support students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers and support staff.

Brief Overview of the Role:

The teaching Assistant will primarily work with secondary school-aged students within a PRU setting. This role involves providing support to students with challenging behaviour, assisting in the implementation of a broad and flexible academic and social curriculum, and ensuring that students are fully included in all aspects of school life.
